Palmistry (chiromancy) classifies hands into four types named for the classical elements, read from the shape of the palm and the length of the fingers.

Groups
- Earth hand — A square palm with short fingers — read as practical, grounded, and reliable.
- Air hand — A square or rectangular palm with long fingers — read as intellectual, communicative, and curious.
- Water hand — A long palm with long, flexible fingers — read as sensitive, emotional, and intuitive.
- Fire hand — A long palm with short fingers — read as energetic, passionate, and spontaneous.
