Eye colour
The natural colour of your eyes — a polygenic inherited trait. One of the most visible things you were born with.
An inherited physical trait, set by several genes that control pigment in the iris. (Genetics)
Groups
- Brown — The most common eye colour worldwide — lots of melanin.
- Blue — Little melanin in the iris, scattering light to look blue.
- Green — Relatively rare — a mix of low melanin and a golden tint.
- Hazel — A shifting blend of brown and green.
- Amber — A golden, coppery brown.
- Grey — A pale, silvery variation of blue.
- Heterochromia — Two different eye colours, or sections of different colour.
