How you prefer disability to be talked about.
A self-description of the wording you prefer. Person-first and identity-first are both widely used and valid; preference is personal and varies by community. (Disability language preference)
Groups
- Identity-first — I say 'disabled person'.
- Person-first — I say 'person with a disability'.
- Either feels fine — I'm comfortable with both.
- Depends on context — It varies by setting and audience.
- By the specific condition — I name the condition itself.
- My own words — I describe it in my own way.
