Sociosexual orientation (SOI-R)
How open you feel to intimacy outside a committed relationship.
The Sociosexual Orientation Inventory–Revised (SOI-R; Penke & Asendorpf, 2008) is a validated psychology measure of sociosexuality — how open someone is to intimacy outside a committed relationship — across three facets: behaviour, attitude and desire. This is a self-placement on that restricted–unrestricted spectrum. Adults-only, opt-in, shared only if you choose; described neutrally, with no judgment either way. Groups
- Committed-only — Intimacy belongs within love and commitment; casual encounters aren't for you.
- Mostly committed — You strongly prefer intimacy inside a relationship, with rare exceptions.
- It depends — Your openness shifts with the person, your feelings and the moment.
- Open to casual — You're at ease with intimacy that isn't tied to commitment.
- Freely casual — You enjoy and seek intimacy without needing commitment.
- Mixed — Your desires, attitudes and actual behaviour don't all line up.
